The resurrection of the Thomas Edison burnt lightbulb. A project by Lucas Mafra

 leia agora FACTA nº 3

Thomas Edison, inventor of the incandescent light bulb, would be glad to know that in spite of his creation being snuffed out of the commerce, we still esteem it and want it to keep lighting our rooms. But cheaper alternatives, more durable and economic, narrowing an unfair dispute with the beautiful incandescent bulbs. We stoped buying them and slowly they were disapearing from the market. Recently (in brazil) the 100W lightbulb was discontinued. An invention that lit our lives with its characteristic yellowish bright, will be gradually removed from the shelves until total extinction, because of its poor luminous efficacy, where  95% or more is converted into heat rather than visible light.

Thomas LEDison (or LEDson) is a DIY project that ressucitates a burnt incandescent lightbulb. It will glow back having a 100.00 hours lifespan compared with mere 1.000 hours of the old burnt bulb. That means 11 years shining 24h a day! Until then the incandescent lightbulb will be practically extinct, but this one will be gleaming for quite a long time in memory of this great inventor.

“Thomas LEDson (or Ledison also) is a makeshift ressurection of the burnt incandescent light bulb.”

MINI ZINE template

terça-feira, fevereiro 24th, 2015

I found this mini zine tutorial video, which was enlightening for me. I was looking for a cut and fold mini zine template, and also trying to make one by myself. But I had the bright idea to make two mini zines (default folding zine) out of an A4 and just staple them together. It’s just much easier to do this instead of the fancy mini zine tutorial above although it’s a f*cking great design.

I had to make a template to this, so here it is in PSD format. Also JPG here.

Instructions: just cut the A4 on the half and fold those halfs like a regular zine and staple them together in the middle page.
